Tackling Loneliness In The Beauty Industry

It's no secret that the beauty industry can be a very lonely place. With most beauty professionals working in solo environments, it has never been more important to stay connected with others who are going through the same thing as you.

Even though you have constant clients throughout the week, it can still be a very lonely place when you are trying to navigate running your own business and being your own boss. With long hours, strict deadlines and a high-pressure environment, this can all contribute to feelings of loneliness. It's easier said than done but it's good to remember that you are not alone in this struggle, there are steps that you can take to combat loneliness.

Connect - Make an effort with your colleagues and other people working within your industry. Take the time to get to know them on a personal level, outside of work-related conversations. This can help to build a sense of community and support. Another great way of connecting is by joining groups and forums, this way you can have conversations with other beauty professionals. We'd also recommend taking a look around your local area for any networking events.

Learning - Why not book yourself onto a course? By attending workshops and training sessions to learn new skills, you are actively combating those feelings of loneliness and self-doubt (which, unfortunately, go hand-in-hand) by improving yourself and also meeting other beauty professionals on the same path. Help is always on hand!

Self-care - Prioritise making time for some self-care and for your own mental health. Loneliness can take a toll on our overall well-being, so it's important to prioritize activities that bring you joy and help you relax. This could be anything from practising yoga to reading a book or spending time with loved ones.
