Frequently asked questions
Yes — regular use of a nourishing balm or serum keeps the skin around the nail supple, which is one of the best ways to prevent hangnails forming in the first place.
Cuticles protect the nail bed from infection, so we recommend gently pushing back and moisturising rather than cutting where possible. If trimming is needed, use a precision tool designed for the job (like our Katey or Helen nippers) rather than regular scissors.
Balms are thicker and more concentrated, best for intensive overnight repair. Serums are lighter and faster-absorbing, better suited to daytime use or reapplying throughout the day.
Daily is ideal, especially before bed. For very dry or damaged cuticles, apply both morning and night until condition improves, then maintain with once-daily use.
